DIPEx GUI The DIPEx Web Interface GUI is designed to closely emulate Windows applications, which are the most natural computer interface for most people. The DIPEx menu system closely resembles the majority of Windows applications with both text based menus and toolbar based menus for more common functions. All menu items have shortcut keys that match common functionality, for example if the user presses the CTRL and C keys simultaneously, the currently selected item is copied to the clipboard. The majority of the application can also be run from just the keyboard, as in a large number of Windows applications. Assets are managed via a tree view component, whose functionality should be very familiar to most users. The right pane changes based on the asset type selected in the tree view. The selection behavior brings up the appropriate interface for the asset type selected. Right-button mouse clicks on assets in the tree view also provides user quick access to commonly used functionality. WMS Data Source Asset Selected
Copy, cut and paste and drag and drop are supported in the tree view. To copy individual assets or a whole branch of the tree, the user can select the object and then use either the Edit->Copy menu, right mouse the object and click copy or type the CTRL and C keys simultaneously, and then paste the object in a new location in a similar fashion. Assets or branches of the tree can also be dragged and dropped with a mouse to new locations and between the tree and some asset interfaces such as the Map Layer interface.
